Karen Baldwin is a retired attorney specializing in structuring tax-exempt financing for governmental entities and private companies. GDFCF Board Member Jessie Hill sparked Karen’s passion for GDFCF with an invitation to visit the Área de Conservación Guanacaste. GDFCF’s story, as told by Dan and Winnie, and a second visit to the Marine Sector of ACG, compelled Karen to support GDFCF’s mission. Karen has a history of promoting sustainable energy. Her work on the Board of Directors of Kauai Island Utility Cooperative helped move the utility from 3% to 85% renewable energy. The dedication to creating a sustainable world continues with her participation on Sonoma Clean Power’s citizen advisory committee. Karen comes to GDFCF with a commitment to help obtain philanthropic resources on behalf of ACG.
